About the artist

Bevilacqua Marta

Italy

Marta Bevilacqua is an Italian self-taught artist whose practice explores the connections between art, science and the natural world. Working with fluid acrylics, she investigates the physical and chemical forces that shape matter, expressing their interactions through colour, movement and texture.

Her creative process unfolds through a dialogue between intention and spontaneity. Density, viscosity, surface tension and the interaction of pigments contribute to compositions that evoke marine depths, geological formations and primordial energy.

Moving between abstraction and emerging recognisable forms, her work explores the relationship between microcosm and macrocosm, revealing visual echoes across different scales of nature. Through individual paintings and multi-panel compositions, she invites viewers to contemplate matter as a dynamic expression of energy in continuous transformation.

The triptych “Tidal Lines” evokes the rhythm of the sea through flowing colours that guide the eye from one canvas to the next. The movement of the water leaves traces of colour, like marks in the sand as the tide recedes. Flows and gradients echo one another in a continuous visual rhythm, capturing the ebb and flow of the tides. Together, the three canvases create a harmonious dialogue inspired by the sea’s ever-changing movement and the delicate patterns left behind by the water.
