Amaaro

Amaaro is a laboratory of design and creation of ceramic products founded in 2011 arising from the collaboration between Claudia and Martino, a painter and an architect. After a first experimental phase and some collective exhibitions, the couple focuses on everyday ceramic items and on poetic and symbolic reinterpretation thereof.
Over the years they have created a personal pantheon consisting of animal and vegetable figures, which became the elements of their compositional language.

The choice of repeated use of the animal figure has value as a metaphor for human types and behaviour, as ironic allegories...This type of representation is also meant to be a homage to creatures that are as much mistreated as they are naturally innocent; animals are represented as little gods, tutelary deities of our living.

Since 2015 Claudia and Martino have taken part to several editions of the exhibition “Fuori Salone” in Milan; in 2017 they took part to the exhibition “White in the City” curated by Giulio Cappellini with an installation in the courtyard of Palazzo Cusani (Milan); in 2019 they were guests at the exhibition “Open Design Italy” in the cities of Vienna and Prague; in 2021 participate in the exhibition Fittile, Artigianato Artistico Italiano nella Ceramica Contemporanea curated by Ugo La Pietra, Triennale Milano.

As of its foundation Amaaro, also collaborates with chefs, retailers and private collectors.
The art ceramics are created and hand-made in a laboratory located in Montecchio, Reggio Emilia.

The ceramics produced by Amaaro are mainly majolica and white earthenware glazed according to the two-fired tradition (biscuit 1020°, glaze 960°), a tradition learnt in Faenza. The tableware and small sculptures are made of porcelain and stoneware fired at high temperature (1280°).
