About the artist

Mastromarino Michele

Italy

Michele Mastromarino (Altamura, 1980) is an artist and architect whose work explores matter, stratification, memory, and Genius Loci. Trained in architecture in Rome, he developed a parallel artistic practice rooted in lived experience, urban landscapes, and travel. His painting is a free, tactile process of layering and subtraction, where architecture and art coexist—order and instinct, space and memory, measure and freedom.

About the artwork

Paintings. Acrylic on canvas.

Hand selected by our curators

Through acts of subtraction, incisions, and voids, the work records traces of memory and transformation. Deep reds, blacks, dark earths, and textural contrasts heighten the tension between presence and absence.
