Vegas Paolo

Paolo Vegas, who graduated from the European Institute of Design in 1992, began his career as a photographer in Milan, where he has been working with various photographers and advertising agencies since 1993. In November 1997, he presented his work in Milan in an exhibition entitled *People and Things*.

In December 1997, he took part in a charity initiative, collaborating on a photographic project for Emergency. Paolo Vegas’s personal artistic journey was strongly influenced by this period.

In 2010, the ‘Cloning Project’ was launched, in which the same subject is portrayed at least twice within the same image, creating actual clones. He always incorporates one or more objects present during the shoot into his work, creating one-off collages. In 2011, he was invited, alongside Omar Ronda, to take part in the 54th Venice Biennale at the Italian Pavilion with the exhibition COSA NOSTRA-SACRO SANTO-NOSTRA COSA, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi. From 2014 to 2017, his works were represented by the Contini Art UK gallery, based in London, and since 2018 by the Contini Arte gallery in Venice and Cortina d’Ampezzo. In 2019, he also began collaborating with the Oblong Contemporary Gallery, based in Dubai, Florence and Forte dei Marmi. 

His work is included in the private collection of the M.A.C.I.S.T. Museum – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Internazionale Senza Tendenze – as well as in other public collections and numerous private collections.
