About the artwork

Cemetery Express

Photography. Print on aluminum under methacrylate.

Hand selected by our curators

This artwork is inspired by a German newspaper article about a forbidden cemetery near the village of Georgenthal, Brandenburg, where people have buried their dead since 1840. The souls, unable to rest, now haunt the cities, traveling by "cemetery express." The piece captures this eerie, haunting narrative of restless spirits.
