About
De Mitri imbues the light boxes with ultramarine tones, supported by sophisticated technologies made of LEDs and optical fibers that illuminate, from the inside, lambda prints on PVC and plexiglass - evoking the abyss and marine animals. The traces and mirages of the blue refer to that vastness of the sea and infinity of the sky which, at times, merges along the line of a horizon. His luminous objects suggest an unstable condition, devoid of coordinates, and push the viewer to immerse himself in the depths of the sea, to travel the metaphysics of star maps or cosmic paths.

Giulio De Mitri was born in Taranto where he lives and works. He is among the most innovative and experimental artists in the South of Italy.
He has crossed, from the seventies to date, different artistic experiences: from signal to the performance, to assemblage, from painting-pictures to the object, from environmental installation to participatory performance, to photography to video-installation, where Planning and process merge into an iconic and aniconic vision that underlies a basic conceptuality, which manifested through numerous and significant events, exhibitions, installations and performances, held in Italy and abroad.
