About the artist

Mastromarino Michele

Italy

Michele Mastromarino (Altamura, 1980) is an artist and architect whose work explores matter, stratification, memory, and Genius Loci. Trained in architecture in Rome, he developed a parallel artistic practice rooted in lived experience, urban landscapes, and travel. His painting is a free, tactile process of layering and subtraction, where architecture and art coexist—order and instinct, space and memory, measure and freedom.

About the artwork

#10_2026

Paintings. Acrylic, gesso, and nylon on canvas.

Hand selected by our curators

Cicatrici 10_2025 explores a landscape of tension and connection, where engraved marks create a shifting network of fractures and intersections. Vibrant white lines cross the surface like scars etched by time, while deep blues, oxidized earth tones, and layered textures evoke memory and transformation. The work presents emptiness not as absence, but as a space of possibility, where each incision preserves the trace of lived experience.
