José Ortega Coronel (born in Venezuela in 1957) is a multidisciplinary artist, graphic designer, and publicist, recognized as one of the leading figures in contemporary Latin American art. Active since the 1980s, he has exhibited widely in both private galleries and public institutions. His work, which blends elements of painting and sculpture, is known for its dynamic interplay of color, light, and layered transparencies. Ortega Coronel has also created large-scale murals and conducted seminars on visual arts and restoration techniques. His pieces are part of numerous public and private collections, including the Museo de Arte Moderno in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Arawath, and several cultural institutions across Venezuela. His artistic research continues to evolve through innovative explorations of form and perception.
