Varvio Ella
Ella Varvio creates surreal yet beautiful scenes in her blown glass sculptures. The images are made by engraving, painting or silkscreen print and then covered in molten glass. This technique creates a sense of depth and looking into another world. Her art is inspired by folklore, myths and nature – but also urban landscape and comics art.
Varvio has graduated as Masters of Arts from Aalto University. She is based in Tampere, Finland but her art has been featured in several international exhibitions. Her art has roots in Scandinavian glass crafting tradition but with a contemporary twist.
