About
It is no coincidence that they have named their floral paintings "Ipervanitas". This is a reference to the traditional still life paintings of the XVII and XVIII centuries called "Vanitas". They add the prefix "Iper” in order to rise above this idea and to think of their paintings as a celebration of the sensual fragility of life. Their flower paintings are rich and sumptuous and. it is only on closer examination that the viewer sees that some petals are turning and starting to darken, a hint of decay and impermanence but no less beautiful for this.

About the artist, Casagrande & Recalcati
Sandra Casagrande and Roberto Recalcati live and work in Milan where they graduated in Architecture from the Polytechnic in 1996. It was there that they began their artistic partnership, both in the field of preservation of cultural heritage and working in tandem on their oil paintings. They then began to create their oversize floral still lifes, theme that they have continued to find creatively satisfying and which has earned them a faithful international following.
