Bonaventura Mauro

Mauro converses with glass souls just as he would with a friend and a fellow traveler, discussing his emotions and the sensations evoked within him upon encountering matter—a nearly visceral connection. These exchanges recount tales from the present and the past, weaving the narrative tapestry of Venetian allure and its quintessential element: the sea.

Born in Venice in 1965. In 1983, Mauro graduated in industrial electronics, by pure chance he went to work at a Venetian furnace as an apprentice. In 1994 he opened his first studio. He immediately began to become passionate about the human figure that fascinated him to the point of enrolling in the Artistic High School of Venice where, in 2003, he obtained his diploma. From that moment thanks to the study of drawing and sculpture his figures become more and more precise and technically correct.

Recently one of his important works was first exhibited at the Murano Glass Museum. In 2017 he participates in a collateral event of the Venice Biennale and will also be present at the Architecture Biennale the following year.
He has been published in many newspapers, art catalogues and magazines including Chicago Tribune, Gas Journal, Murano Glass Museum, Glashaus, Art & Art, New Glass Review, La Repubblica, Il Corriere della Sera, Il Gazzettino and many others. His works are exhibited in important art galleries and museums around the world including the Corning Museum of glass in New York, Carnegie.
